Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I have to pay for a meal?
A: Meals are and always will be free of charge.

Q: How do I get my meal(s)?
A: Our volunteer drivers deliver to your home every Tuesday afternoon, following  careful contact-free protocol to maintain social distancing.

Q: How do I know if I'm eligible for meals?
A: Truro Community Kitchen serves anyone in need, no questions asked. We recognize that during a pandemic, need can look different for different people.   TCK understands that there are many  reasons  that an individual or family may choose to register for meals, including but not limited to financial concerns. Even if your primary concern is not financial (for example, maybe it's too difficult or unsafe for you to go to the grocery store right now), we're here for you too. You will never have to explain or justify your  reason(s) for registering, we promise.

Q: How does TCK protect my privacy?
A: Only the  TCK leadership have access to the list of meal recipients, and we keep it strictly confidential. You will   not   have to provide us with your name. We will ask you for a phone number just in case we need to contact you, and your address so that we know where to deliver.

Q: What if I have dietary restrictions?
A: TCK works hard to accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions in our meals, and  we take allergen safety very seriously.  Just let us know what your needs are when you register and we'll keep it on file.

Q: How long  will you continue operating?
A: At the moment,  we intend to provide meals once a week indefinitely. (Each meal recipient receives enough for two meals, at least, each Tuesday.) We have been awarded generous grants from the Dexter  Keezer Fund ,  the Kelley Foundation, and Sustainable CAPE, all of which will enable us to stay open for this time. As we are led entirely by volunteers, we depend on the generosity of our community  to help us meet our goal of establishing TCK as a permanent fixture year-round to serve the Truro community.
